The moment Prof. Balu saw his childhood-friend, Palanisamy, he started assuming airs.
Though Palanisamy was from a well-off family but could not study beyond the Fifth Class. Teachers used to make fun of him that he was fit only to graze bulls and buffaloes. And the boy felt ashamed! And discontinued his studies.
Now Balu wanted to degrade him by highlighting his own worth!
‘Palani! You didn’t study and went away to do business. Look at me! I went for higher studies. Now I am going to become a professor at Kanna College. What do you know about education? All right, what do you do now?’
With all his cool collectedness, Palanisamy replied, ‘Not much! I’ve four or five colleges for a living! They’re just enough for me! The college you are going to join now is also mine!’
After listening to Palanisamy, Balu got wonder-struck!
