Atonement

-Prabhu Shankar
Prabhakar could not concur with the decision taken by his leader. There was a social service organization next door. They were busy with their work. It was a temple of service to the mentally-  challenged children.
Even healthy children make noise and create so much of disturbance. What could we say about the mentally-challenged kids! They keep shouting, crying, and break this and that.
Without realizing this, his leader had ordered him to vacate the organisation and the children from there. On the instruction of his leader, he had so far maimed seven or eight opponents, assassinated four or five rivals, but......this time ....his heart did not like to vacate these children from there. Where would they go?
He was standing there engrossed in his thoughts. He saw one photographer going inside.  He stood there waiting for him. He came out. He talked to him, and sent him away.
Next week, an interview of the President of the social service organization appeared in the Children’s Weekly. It was said in the interview, ‘There is a political leader next door. Not only he tolerates our children but also helps us in every way. His presence here is a great support for us.’
The leader received so many congratulations over phone. Even in politics no one gets so much publicity. Immediately he ordered to send a fat donation to the social service organization.
Prabhakar felt as if he had atoned for all his sins!
