Gravel

-Prabhu Shankar
The heaps of gravels were there for the past three months. The work of laying the road has not yet started. The residents had to jump over many pits in the street to reach their homes. . It was a physical torture to all. Nanadakumar was fretting on the residents of the street why they didn’t protest.
It was Saturday. Office was for half a day. While returning home that afternoon, he saw the gravel flying towards him. He stopped his scooter. One woman was taking the gravels from the heap and hurling them one after the other.
‘Oh! This is my wife, Surniya!’
In confusion, Nandakumar ran to his wife.
‘Bastards! Goons! Cheats! Punks! Come to snatch the chains in daylight! Shoving the gold chain in her bag, she was jabbering.
And the chain-snatchers had taken to their heels!
Good road is necessary but there should be good protection of women too!
With this thought, Nandakumar, looked at the heap of gravels with a thankful glance!
