Bonus

Anita became sad after reading her mother’s letter. Their house was about to be auctioned. If auction is to be stopped, money must be there. She was eagerly awaiting the return of her husband. 
Car entered and stopped at the portico. Along with her husband, Kudar, his father had also come. Anita got worried.
They had harassed much at the time of the marriage of Anita. They wanted this and that, otherwise, they threatened that the marriage would not take place. They had many demands. After paying fifty thousand rupees as they demanded, 'tali' came to her neck. They were so flint-hearted! She wanted to talk to Kudar in privacy and find out some solution. But this old man was there along her husband!! She was silent but much perturbed inside.
‘Anita looks much worried’, her father-in-law initiated. There was hate in the heart of Anita. She did not give any reply. Her eyes welled up.
‘Oh! The cause of worry is this, isn’t it? Kudar, take this. Hand it over to your wife’. Kudar took the envelope and gave it to his wife. When she opened it and saw, her happiness knew no bounds. They were the documents of her house.
She looked towards his husband and father-in-law with quizzical eyes.
Her father-in-law said, ‘When we came to see you, we felt your father was a spendthrift. I foresaw a problem like this would surely arise. That’s why we’re so adamant in our demands. With the amount we got from your father that day, we have released your house. Take it as a Diwali bonus. Now are you happy?’
‘Mama!’, with this one word, Anita fell at his feet.
