Conscience

-Ve Tamilazhagan
There was a knock on the door. Kuderesan opened the door. Seeing Sundaram, he felt surprised.
Just then he had purchased the grocery from his shop and came home. When they verified the grocery items and the bill, they found half a kilo of raisin was in excess, and it was not found in the bill.
His wife, Vandana, said, ‘Return this.’
‘Let it be. He’ll ask about it when he comes to know of it. He makes a lot of money by short weighing things.’
Now all of a sudden, Sundaram was standing there. May be he had come to take the money of the extra raisin. Half-heartedly he said, ‘Come in.’
‘You had left your bag at my shop. When I opened it, I found a gold chain in it. So I came to return your bag to you’, he said and extended the bag to him. Taking the bag from his hand, he felt his conscience piercing him.
