Motherhood

-Ve Tamilazagan
When Indira wanted to have abortion, Dr. Jayanth asked, ‘Why?’
Raj butted in, ‘I too asked the same but she does not give any reply. She just keeps on saying that she does not need this child.’
Five years have passed since their marriage and still they were childless. So they had adopted a child from an orphanage. The child was two years old. Indira was doting on her adopted child. She didn’t like him to know that he was an orphan.
She believed that because of the blessing of the adopted child she was able to conceive. She was afraid if she had her child her attention would be on the new born baby, and the other child would feel neglected. It is for this reason she was against her own conception.
When she expressed her fear, the doctor said, ‘Look, Indira! People of moderate thinking have such thoughts. In reality, this is not fear but it is their kind-heartedness. Your fear is groundless. A mother like you adopted me. She loved me more than her own children. In return for this, I love thousands of people. Now do you understand, don’t you? Go back to your home.’
Indira understood the truth of what the doctor said. She got up, and with all joy, Raj brought her home.
