Coolness of Fire
-Ve Tamilazagan
When eyes opened, she came out, and saw that devilish old woman standing in front of her. She got angry. Her family was a tenant in that old woman’s house. The house was good but the churlishness of the old woman was intolerable
Kavitha was studying in the college those days.
The old woman’s murmuring would often deviate her attention from her studies.
‘Look here! Water is dripping from the tap. Can’t you close it properly?’ ‘Can’t you park your bike without making sound?’ ‘You walk so fast, the floor may be damaged!’ ‘You listen to songs in such a high tone that it may disturb others’ sleep.’ ‘Girls should be modest. You make so many disturbances on terrace with friends!” She would be murmuring something and keep on worrying Kavitha. Somehow, after completing the studies, her family has shifted to this house. But how come this devil is here, she wondererd!
‘What do you want?’ Kavith asked her with all carelessness.
‘Nothing! A letter came for you. I just came to hand it over to you.’
She extended the envelope.
When she read it, she was flabbergasted. It was her appointment order. It was the last day. The old woman with her frail health had taken so much trouble to come to her to hand over the letter to her in time. With this thought her heart turned soft towards that old woman.
