Vasunthra was surprised that the quarrelsome son and daughter both were silent! When she looked at them attentively she felt sad that they were not talking to each other for some days.

‘Sumi! You and Rahul both don’t talk to each other! Why? What problem is there between you?

‘Oh! Mummy! In another three months, you and daddy would be separated. Rahul will be with daddy. You’ll take me somewhere else. Then Rahul and I will not see each other. All the people of our apartment building are talking about this. So we’ve decided to learn to be separate from now itself. If we separate suddenly, it will be painful, won’t it be?’

Vasunthra’s eyes welled up. She held her daughter close to her breast..... but with a firm decision!
