A Letter
-S. Raman
Madan was to come to see the girl. Sandhiya sent four-line anonymous letter to him. This letter could pose a problem and prevent her marriage too. Yet she consoled her own heart that the step she had taken was right.
Madan came; saw the girl. He wanted to talk to the girl in private.
‘Somebody had sent a letter to me about you. It was written in that letter you were not agreeable to this marriage. It is my habit I want to enquire everything from the person concerned. This way it is always easy to come to know the truth. If I am wrong, you can set me right.’
Madan extended the letter to her.
‘Asking the person concerned clarifies many misunderstandings and the relationship is also made stronger. I like your habit. I myself sent this letter to test you. I am fortunate to have the honour to be your spouse’, saying this, she became bashful.
